This course is dedicated to all students who would like to deepen their understanding of Yoga and move beyond solely practicing postures.

Yoga Sutras of Patanjali are a classic yogic text of sutras (aphorisms) which is believed to have been gathered by the sage Patanjali around 400 CE.  Yoga Sutras are divided in eight categories known as 8 limbs of Yoga. Whilst exploring this ancient text, one can be surprised to see how relevant these aphorisms still are.
First two limbs are addressing the ethical part of our existence, pointing out the values one should cultivate with regards to the personal principles and moral as well when interacting with others.
Practicing postures is assisting us to build up flexibility, endurance, physical and mental strenght. With dedicated practice we shift the focus from the outer world to the experience within. Moments of stillness and inner balance are getting longer and preparing us for the following stages of 8 limbs of Yoga path. Through concentration and meditation we aim to reach the state of Samadhi, known as the state of supreme consciousness or getting to know the true self.

During the eight weeks, we will explore 8 limbs of Yoga and incorporate it in our practice.
Each week we will work on a different topic:
Week 1: Yama – social code of conduct
Week 2: Niyama – personal code of conduct
Week 3: Asana – physical posture
Week 4: Pranayama – control of prana (life energy)
Week 5: Pratyahara – withdrawal of the senses
Week 6: Dharana – concentration
Week 7: Dhyana – meditation
Week 8: Samadhi – state of supreme consciousness

Classes will be held every Thursday (from 10th of Feb until 31st of Mar 2022) between 6 pm and 7 pm BST (London, UK time) or 7 pm and 8 pm CET.
In order to have the full overview of the topics we will be working with it is recommended to attend all classes. But it is also possible to buy separate tickets for individual classes.
