Hatha Yoga classes offered by Yoga Path Within are suitable for absolute beginners, students who are still developing a regular practice, and experienced practitioners.
Hatha Yoga is one of the six traditional branches of yoga. The word Hatha translates as “force” or “effort,” reminding practitioners that both the physical and subtle aspects of the yogic path require conscious effort, discipline, and consistency in order to progress.
Pranayama (breathwork), Asanas (physical postures), and meditation are always included in Yoga Path Within classes.
Pranayama is the Sanskrit term for breathing techniques and the cultivation of awareness of our vital life force, known as Prana.
Asanas are the physical postures practiced to develop strength, flexibility, stability, and focus—preparing both body and mind for stillness.
The purpose of meditation is to calm the mind and reconnect with the inner self.
Traditional Hatha Yoga practice emphasises static postures, which are usually held for five to eight deep breaths. Holding poses for longer periods allows students to explore each posture safely, work with breath control, cultivate stillness, and remain present throughout the practice.
Clear, detailed instructions and demonstrations are provided for every posture we practice together. I offer modifications, tips, and guidance so that students feel safe and supported throughout the class. The initial focus is on fundamental postures, gradually building strength, confidence, and awareness. Balancing postures can be particularly challenging for beginners, so we explore variations and supportive options until confidence develops naturally.
As your practice evolves, you will be ready to progress toward more advanced Asanas, Pranayama techniques, and a deeper meditation practice, as well as exploring other aspects of 8 Limbs of Yoga.
